DarkNet

The intra and inter-city computer networks. Typically only government officials have an open line for inter-city communication, and intra-city communication is fairly minimal outside of IUM messaging. Still, DarkNet cafes (like modern day internet cafes) are fairly popular. For a nominal fee a user can get online for a few hours to chat with other users and post and answer ads, as well as play minimalistic text-based adventure games.

There are other uses of course, if one is a particular adept WareHead.

Diamondbacks

A derogatory term for the city's officials, most especially its police force, so named for the orange diamonds stitched onto the back left shoulder and the sleeves of most uniforms.

EMP

Electromagnetic Pulse. There are a few varieties of EMP. The most notable is the one that the portals emitted when they closed, destroying or disrupting much of the world's technology. There are other natural sources (such as lightning), but the one most commonly encountered is emitted by a small pocket device carried by Titian police. Enterprising black market scavengers might also carry relatively strong ones in order to disrupt Augmented and AI to steal their parts, but scavengers are often Augmented themselves and so this is relatively infrequent.

IUM

Intra-user Message/Messaging Many Augmented carry some form of wetware that makes this possible, and many more species find it convenient to carry a wristband, collar, or other device. A form of text-messaging, though its range is limited. Within cities there are boosters to help signals reach across its span, but outside the walls, the radius is at most 10 miles. Nearly indispensable for Hunters or Ravengers. This technology was crafted with the Spawn in mind, though very few use it, and even fewer humans outside of high-ranking politicians can (or want to) afford the clumsy translator.

Pures

Slang for Pure Humans, often used somewhat dismissively by those in the Nadirs and further. Pure Humans often refer to themselves as just plain 'Human' and the rest as Augmented and Jinxed as applicable. Particularly pretentious Pure Humans might say that they're 'True' or 'Clean'.

WareHead

Augment enthusiasts, often given to hacking, programming, and overclocking. See Sample Skills & Occupations for more details.

Wetware

(via dictionary.com) Computer technology in which the brain is linked to artificial systems, or used as a model for artificial systems based on biochemical processes.

(simple terminology) Mechanical and cybernetic hardware wired directly to the human nervous system. Or in the case of AI, the components utilized to form their consciousness.
